You might be asking yourself, and for reference, what’s my skin-type and what do I look for in a product? That information can be found here so you can better analyze if this product will work for you (like it did me).

A Few Standards: What do I want out of my SPF? First, and most importantly, my SPF must be vegan, cruelty-free, and huge bonus points if the company makes efforts towards the recycling of the item, if it’s ethically made, if it’s organic, and if packaging is well thought of. When it comes to texture, I will try anything: whipped, gel, cream, lotion and/or ointment form. I will also try any type of formulation and as of yet, I don’t really have a preference. Packaging isn’t much of a concern since I will try just about anything, however, I do always prefer a pump. I prefer my SPF to be light, have a nice scent, and to absorb into my skin fast. I prefer my SPF to leave a bit of a glow, I don’t want that sticky-tacky feeling, it must dry down, I don’t want to feel greasy while wearing my SPF, and I don’t want it to irritate my skin or cause breakouts. Lastly, I want the SPF to layer well under makeup. I have included some of my preferences here because that’s what I look for in MY SPF, but because this is a review blog, I will try it all. It can be matte, it can be waterproof, it doesn’t matter, I will test it all. What I end up recommending, re-buying and sticking to, is something that fits MY preferences, however.

What’s my skin type? I have oily skin, in fact, very oily. I am blemish prone, however, since becoming vegan, acne is a thing of the past. I normally want my face products to help with brightening and aging (fine lines mostly), but I do also need hydration, which is why I like using creams, serums, oils, etc. I do have sensitive skin so products can’t irritate or cause redness, and 100 percent can’t break me out. I have a light-olive complexion and in the summertime, I can get very, very dark.

I’m trying to find a reason not to love this as much as I do, but I CAN’T FIND ONE! Seriously though, and from that intro, let me tell you why I love this product. First things first, this product is vegan, cruelty free, YAY, it’s priced fairly, and it comes in sustainable packaging (glass). Need I say more?

Here are some of the benefits:

  • Mineral combo sunscreen for all skin types

  • Lightweight, hydrating serum that integrates skincare benefits with suncare. Designed to use alone or mixed in with your moisturizer or foundation

  • Applies evenly with a sheer finish

  • Blue light protection

  • Broad spectrum with UVA and UVB sun protection

  • Smells like light citrus

  • Formulated without parabens, phthalates, SLS or mineral oil

  • 100% Vegan

  • Cruelty-freThis beautiful bottle is made with glass - give it another life & recycle it again

The product is very colourful, so huge win on the packaging.

It’s sustainable as it’s glass.

The colour is white and creamy.

The smell is a mixture of a beach, SPF, and hint of orange. It’s not too crazy and overpowering though, it’s very light.

The texture is creamy. Once you apply, it dries down without a sticky feeling and leaves a beautiful glow.

This product layers very well under makeup. It doesn’t patch, remove makeup or peel.

This product also didn’t break me out.

Very, very durable. I have dropped this, carried this in several different bags, luggage, and the like, and it’s never broken, chipped or spilled. HUGE win.

This SPF also has blue light protection, which I find super, super cool.

Price is fair in my opinion because you get sun care and skincare in ONE product.

Travel-Friendly. Ish. So, this product in some ways is travel friendly and maybe isn’t in other ways. Let me explain. Personally, I don’t find this to be super heavy, so I traveled with the whole bottle. Though if YOU find it heavy, you can always put some in a smaller travel container. Now once you open this SPF, you can’t get the pump to close again. Due to this factor, when I travel with it, I always put one of my reusable baggies around it (to ensure it doesn’t break or spill all over my clothes in my luggage). I’ve traveled with this several times and it has not once spilled, broken, or leaked. So, if you don’t want to bother putting a baggie of choice around this since the pump can’t close, and if you don’t want to bother putting product into a smaller container (assuming you don’t want to bring the whole bottle like me), then to you, it might not be travel friendly. For me, I brought the whole bottle with me, and I wasn’t inconvenienced by having to put a baggie over it to ensure it doesn’t spill (it didn’t either way), but to some, that might be an inconvenience. So, I’m putting this as travel friendly. To me, it is (which is why it’s not in the cons section).

Now, let’s discuss the con. If you get too close to your eye area (and put too much on), or if this product gets in your eyes (which happened to me a few times), it will sting and burn, severely.

Now, the only times this happened to me is when I put a heavy-handed amount near my eyes and went swimming. So, what I did moving forward is I just put less around my eye area on the days I was in the water. There are essentially two solutions if you find it irritating your eyes when in the water. One, like me, put less on around your eye area and use goggles or regular sunglasses as an added layer. Two, on the days you’ll be swimming, use a different face SPF if you want to be super safe. I won’t lie, when it gets into your eyes, it causes severe burning, so I didn’t want to experience that again. What worked for me is the former: just put less around the eye area, and wear sunglasses (when swimming, if you aren’t swimming this doesn’t apply because during my “regular” days this didn’t get in my eyes, only when in the water).

Truly, this is one of my favourite sunscreens to use and if you try it, I hope you love it as much as I do. This is a product staple I use time and time again. Feel free to comment and leave me feedback and share if you found it helpful!
